How to Upgrade BoB Lite Firmware

This article will show you how to upgrade the firmware on a BoB Lite.

BoB Lite should automatically update to the latest firmware, however if it's is switched off for an extended period of time, it may have missed an automatic update. If this is the case, you can upgrade the firmware manually using these instructions.

Checking the currently installed firmware

  1. On a computer or WiFi device that's connected to your BoB Lite, open your web browser and go to http://10.1.1.1
     
  2. On the login page, you'll see the current firmware version listed next to My modem is using firmware version.


     

How to Upgrade BoB2 Firmware

  1. Before upgrading the firmware, you'll need to download the latest BoB Lite firmware file from https://iihelp.iinet.net.au/support/node/2794

    IMPORTANT: Do not attempt to download firmware using the Freezone link shown on-screen in the modem settings as it may not work. Download the firmware here.
     
  2. On a computer or WiFi device that's connected to your BoB Lite, open your web browser and go to http://10.1.1.1

    Note: Some customers have been having issues updating firmware using Mozilla Firefox. If you're experiencing difficulties, please try downloading and updating the firmware in another browser such as Internet Explorer, Edge, Safari or Google Chrome.
     

  3. Select 6. Handy Tools from the top menu bar.
     
  4. Next to Firmware upgrade, click Continue.
     
  5. Click the Browse button and then locate the BoB Lite firmware file you saved on your computer.
     
  6. Click Upgrade firmware. If you experience an "Invalid File' error, please use a different web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer).  
     
    Note: Do not attempt to download firmware using the Freezone link shown on-screen as it may not work. Download the firmware here.
     

      
  7. IMPORTANT: Don't turn off BoB Lite during the firmware upgrade.
     
  8. Once the upgrade is complete, BoB Lite will reboot and your web browser should return to the BoB Lite login page.
     
  9. We recommend that you factory reset BoB Lite after a firmware upgrade.

Recovery Mode

If a firmware upgrade goes 'bad', BoB Lite may go into Recovery Mode and be somewhat unresponsive. If this is the case, please follow the instructions in Recovery Mode for iiNet modems.
