How to Upgrade Budii Lite or Budii Firmware

This article will show you how to manually upgrade the firmware for Budii Lite or Budii.

Budii or Budii Lite should automatically update to the latest firmware, however if it's switched off for an extended period of time, it may have missed an automatic update. If this is the case, you can upgrade the firmware manually using these instructions.

  1. On a computer or WiFi device that's connected to Budii Lite/Budii, open your web browser and go to http://10.1.1.1
     
  2. On the login page, in the Your modem status box, you'll see the name of the firmware version listed next to "My modem is using firmware version".


     

  1. Download the latest Budii or Budii Lite firmware file from https://iihelp.iinet.net.au/support/node/2794
     
    IMPORTANT: Do not attempt to download firmware using the Freezone link shown on-screen in the modem settings as it may not work. Download the firmware here.

    Note: If you don't have internet access at your location, you may need to go elsewhere to download the firmware file onto a USB flash drive, CD or another form of portable file storage. You can use this to get the firmware file onto your computer or device that's connected to your modem.
     

  2. On a computer or WiFi device that's connected to Budii Lite/Budii, open your web browser and go to http://10.1.1.1
     
  3. Log in with the default password "admin". If you have changed the password from the default. use your custom password instead.

  4. Select Handy Tools from the top menu bar.

  5. Under Firmware upgrade, click Continue.

  6. Click the Choose file button and locate the firmware file you saved to your computer.
     
  7. Click Upgrade firmware.

  8. IMPORTANT: Do not turn your Budii Lite/Budii off during the firmware upgrade.
     

  9. Once the firmware upgrade is complete, your Budii Lite/Budii will reboot and your web browser should return to the 10.1.1.1 login page.

 

If a firmware upgrade goes 'bad', Budii/Budii Lite may go into Recovery Mode and be somewhat unresponsive. If this is the case, please follow the instructions in Recovery Mode for iiNet modems.
