How to make a new email address in Toolbox

This article will show you how to make or remove an iiNet email address (mailbox) in Toolbox. This allows you to have an email address that ends with the “@iinet.net.au” domain.

  • If you have a broadband service with iiNet, you'll have one email address that doubles as your broadband username and your primary Toolbox login username. You may also have up to 9 additional iiNet mailboxes at no extra cost (NBN™ services may allow up to 19 additonal mailboxes).
  • If you only have Mobile Voice with us, then you'll have just one email address that doubles as your primary Toolbox login username.
  • If you require more email addresses, you may purchase another mailbox for an annual fee of $25 - just call our friendly Sales Team on 13 19 17.

If you've never logged into Toolbox before, please see An Introduction to Toolbox.

Select one of the links below to jump to a query:

  1. Log in to Toolbox and select My Products from the navigation bar. If you're on a mobile device and you don't see this option, click the grey square with three lines to show the navigation menu.

  2. Select Email and then select Add/remove a mailbox from the Actions. If you're on a mobile device and you don't see the Actions menu, click the grey bar labelled Email actions to show it.

  3. You’ll see a list of your current mailboxes. To add a new mailbox, click Add Mailbox at the bottom of the page.

  4. This will bring up a form. You’ll need to scroll down the page and fill in the following:

Service: Select the internet service the email address will be attached to
Full name: The name of the person who will be using the email address
Email address: Your desired email address (do not include the “@iinet.net.au”)
Password: Enter a password that fits our password policy
Confirm password: Enter your password again

  5. Once you’re done, click Create Mailbox to finish. It may take up to 2 hours before your email address can start sending and receiving email. In the meantime, you may find these setup guides helpful, or you may prefer to access your emails using iiNet Webmail.

  6. We recommend that you send a test email to your new email address using a different email account, or ask a friend to email you. Once you receive this test email, you know your mailbox is up and running.

  7. IMPORTANT: Additional mailboxes do not have the same account permissions as your primary Toolbox login username. If you log into Toolbox with the username and password of an additional mailbox, you won't have access to most features including invoices, payments, usage history, broadband details and account details. This allows you give an additional email address to a child or housemate without giving them access to change anything on your account.

  1. You can’t delete a mailbox that is also the username for an internet service. If you wish to change a username, please call us on 13 22 58. However, you may delete additional mailboxes.

Please note: Be sure to back up any important emails before deleting a mailbox as they cannot be recovered.

  2. Log in to Toolbox and select My Products from the navigation bar. If you're on a mobile device and you don't see this option, click the grey square with three lines to show the navigation menu.

  3. Select Email and then select Add/remove a mailbox from the Actions menu. If you're on a mobile device and you don't see the Actions menu, click the grey bar labelled Email actions to show it.

  4. You’ll see a list of your current mailboxes. To remove an existing mailbox, click Remove.

  5. Enter the password for the mailbox, and then click Remove Email.

  6. The mailbox will stop working almost immediately, however it may take a few hours to disappear from Toolbox.
