This article will explain why iiNet does not support or recommend tethering for mobile devices.
Tethering allows you to use a mobile phone or mobile tablet device as a USB modem or WiFi hotspot to connect another device to a Mobile Broadband service (e.g. desktop PC).
Tethering can be problematic on the iiNet Mobile Network. On some devices, it just won't work due to limitations with carrier settings.
It is possible to tether your service on some devices, but we don't recommend it. If you do want to try tethering your device, please check your user manual or the manufacturer's website for instructions. If it doesn't work, please be aware that our Support Team is not able to assist you.
Data usage when tethering is counted towards your monthly quota. When you tether a Mobile Broadband or Mobile Voice service to other devices, your data usage becomes harder for you to monitor, particularly if you're letting someone else use your service over WiFi.
Data usage notifications and records in Toolbox can be delayed by up to 48 hours. If a tethered device is being used for a (e.g. a desktop PC downloading HD media) or multiple devices are being used simultaneously, you may be at risk of accruing excess data charges before you've been notified of maxing your monthly quota.
