Reporting Phishing Emails

This article will show you how to report Phishing Scams. Please note that this process differs slightly to spam emails (junk mail that is just annoying, not trying to get your password).

Generally, you should forward phishing emails as an attachment to abuse@iinet.net.au. While it should be safe to open the email to do this, it is very important to note the following:

  • Do not click any links or buttons in the phishing email
  • If the phishing email has attachments, do not open or save any of them

Some guides for various email clients can be found below, including iiNet Webmail which can be accessed by all iiNet customers.

Select one of the links below to jump to a query:

iiNet Webmail has been shown as an example, but Westnet Webmail should have an identical menu layout.

  1. Log in to Webmail and open the email in question.

  2. Click the More button in the top right-hand corner of the email and select Forward Attachment from the drop-down menu.

  3. Enter "abuse@iinet.net.au" in the To field and "Phishing Email" in the Subject field.

  4. Click Send Email to finish.
