DNS records for Hosted Exchange

This article will provide information needed for updating your DNS records when you have a Hosted Exchange service.

If you want iiNet to host your DNS, please delegate your domain name to the name servers below. We will automatically configure the appropriate DNS records for your Hosted Exchange service.

  • ns1.iinethosting.net.au
  • ns2.iinethosting.net.au

If you are hosting your DNS elsewhere, you'll need to make some changes to your DNS records in order for your iiNet Hosted Exchange service to work. Please ensure you have created your mailboxes before updating your DNS records.
 

MX Records

Please remove any existing MX records and create only the following:

Name
Type Priority Data
yourdomain.com. MX 10 smtp.exchange.iinet.net.au.

 

Autodiscover Record

Please create the following CNAME record to enable automatic configuration of your email account(s) in Outlook:

Name Type Data
autodiscover.yourdomain.com. CNAME autodiscvr.exchange.iinet.net.au.

 

Outlook Web Access (OWA) Record

If you wish to access OWA from a customised URL you will need to create an additional CNAME record:

Name Type Data
webmail.yourdomain.com. CNAME exchange.iinet.net.au.

 

SPF Record

Please add the following SPF record:

yourdomain.com. TXT "v=spf1 redirect=exchange.iinet.net.au"
