Setting up dialup on Mac OSX
This article will show you how to set up a dialup connection on Mac OSX.
Please note: Newer Mac computers do not come with built-in dialup modems. You may need to have one installed by a computer technician, or a USB plugin dialup modem may be available for purchase at your local computer store.
Setting up Dialup in Mac OSX
- To start, click the Network icon in the upper right-hand corner of the windows and select Open Network Preferences.
- In the left-hand column of the Network Preferences window, select External Modem (for USB plugin dialup modems) or Internal Modem (for built-in dialup modems).
- Enter the following details, and make sure "Show modem status in the menu bar" is ticked:
Telephone number: 0198333955
Account name: Your dialup username (e.g. firstname.lastname@example.org)
Password: Your dialup password
- Click Apply to finish. To start your dialup connection, click the phone icon in the upper right-hand corner of your screen and then select Connect External Modem.
