Email Setup in Android OS

This article will show you how to set up an iiNet Group email address on the Android OS mail app.

IMPORTANT: The look and features of Android OS can vary greatly depending on which device you have. If these instructions don't work for you, please refer to the manufacturer's website or search online for support information on the mail app. While setting up, you'll need the relevant email settings.

 

  1. Open the Settings menu and search for "account", then select Add account.

  2. Select Email > Account settings > Add Account.

  3. Select Others.

  4. Enter your full email address and password, then tap SIGN IN.

  5. Select IMAP.

  6. Adjust the prefilled incoming server settings to the following, then tap Next:

    Username: Your full email address e.g. example@iinet.net.au
    Authentication: Your email address password
    Server: mail.iinet.net.au (if your email address doesn't end with "@iinet.net.eu" please see iiNet Group Email Settings for the correct server)
    Port: 143
    Security Type: STARTTLS
    IMAP path prefix: <leave blank>

  7. Adjust the prefilled outgoing server settings to the following, then tap Next:

    SMTP Server: mail.iinet.net.au (if your email address doesn't end with "@iinet.net.eu" please see iiNet Group Email Settings for the correct server)
    Port: 587
    Security Type: STARTTLS
    Require sign-in: Ticked
    Username: Your full email address e.g. example@iinet.net.au
    Authentication: Your email address password

  8. Select your desired Sync frequency (how often the app will check for new mail) and notification preferences, then tap Next.

  9. You should now be able to access your iiNet email through the Mail app. We recommend that you send an email to yourself to confirm that you can send and recieve email.
